Bashundhara Shuvosangho Hakimpur upazila unit has launched its new committee through a tree plantation programme, marking a commitment to environmental protection and social responsibility.
The event took place on Saturday at Hakimpur Government College premises, symbolising a fresh start focused on building a greener and more responsible community.
Organisers introduced the new committee members at the outset, where each member shared their responsibilities and future plans. Leaders discussed strategies to make organisational activities more dynamic and effective, with a strong emphasis on engaging youth in social service initiatives.
Members then formally launched the committee’s journey through a tree plantation drive. Participants planted saplings and highlighted the importance of protecting the environment.
They also stressed the need to raise awareness to avoid the adverse effects of climate change and pledged to continue regular plantation and eco-friendly activities.
Hakimpur unit president Khadija Akter Jui presided over the programme, while general secretary Md Nahid Hasan conducted it. Advisers Golam Mostafizur Rahman Milon, Ruhul Amin, Mahidul Islam, Romana Akter Moni and Naz Sultana Bithi attended as guests.
Vice-presidents Maruf Hossain, Shafayat Hossain, Umme Habiba Anju, Rabiul Islam Pias, Sanjoy Das and Mostakim Hossain, along with joint general secretaries Irfan Ahmed and Khairun Akter Ruku Islam, also joined the event.
Organising secretary Tamim Ahmed, assistant organising secretaries Ferdous Islam and Nadia Nowshin Shahi, finance secretary Tahmina Tisha, office secretary Priya Moni Saha, women’s affairs secretary Tabassum Akter Ruku, publicity secretary Hriday Hasan, cultural affairs secretary Roz Mollik, health and human resources secretary Tamanna, sports secretary Samiul Islam, women and children affairs secretary Mehzabin Sabha and relief and disaster management secretary Moumita Akter were present, among others.
Information and technology secretary Tayeba Taslim Fiza, education and study circle secretary Asma Ulfat Ohona, hospitality secretary Tanveen Tarin, social welfare secretary Monirul, planning secretary Palash Islam and executive member Mustakim Hossain also attended.
Organisers said the new committee will strengthen social service activities and take initiatives in education, health, environment and humanitarian support. They expressed commitment to engage the younger generation and build a conscious, humane and green society.
