Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila unit organised an awareness programme on measles prevention on Saturday.
With reports of infection and deaths increasing in the country, the Shuvosangho arranged the campaign following a meeting with newly elected upazila unit office bearers to raise public awareness on prevention, vaccination and personal hygiene.
Lalmonirhat district unit president Md Jamal Hossain and general secretary Md Naeem Rahman were present at the programme. They welcomed the newly formed upazila committee members and urged them to continue such public health initiatives regularly.
The event was attended by newly elected leaders of the Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila unit, including president Shamim Hasan Shakil, vice-president Adiba Yasmin Aditi, general secretary Sajib Chakraborty, joint general secretaries Yasin Ali Pavel and Bhakti Roy Piu, organising secretary Md Enamul Haque, assistant organising secretary Bijoy Chandra Barman, office secretary Md Mushfiqur Rahman, finance secretary Md Ashidul Habib, women and child affairs secretary Shyama Rani, planning secretary Momena Khatun Sathi, literature and culture secretary Zakaria Hasan, relief and disaster affairs secretary Arifur Rahman Omi, and executive members Abdullah Al Nirob and Mehedi Hasan.
Speakers in the campaign urged people to receive measles vaccines on time, ensure routine immunisation of children, maintain cleanliness, provide nutritious food to infected patients, avoid close contact with infected individuals, and refrain from taking antibiotics or medicines without medical advice.
