Under the slogan “Beside Everyone in Good Deeds,” Bashundhara Shuvosangho has extended support to a distressed family in Roumari upazila of Kurigram by providing one month of food assistance.
The humanitarian initiative was carried out on Friday in Notan Para village under Sadar Union, where leaders of the Roumari upazila unit of the organisation handed over essential food items to Mosammat Malavanu, a widowed mother of three.
The assistance package included rice, lentils, onions, chilies, potatoes, puffed rice, flour, semai, sugar, milk, noodles, cooking oil, and other daily necessities.
Local sources said Malavanu had been living in severe hardship since the death of her husband. She had been struggling to support her three young children by working on other people’s land, but regular meals for the family were not guaranteed.
After learning about her situation, Bashundhara Shuvosangho stepped forward with humanitarian support.
Emotionally overwhelmed after receiving the aid, Malavanu said she had been facing immense hardship since her husband’s death and often could not manage proper meals for her children.
“With this assistance, we will be able to manage properly for at least a few days. May Allah bless those who helped me,” she said.
Masud Parvez Rubel, president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Roumari upazila committee, said standing beside helpless and underprivileged people is the organisation’s main objective.
“We always try to support people out of humanitarian responsibility, and such activities will continue in the future,” he said.
Among those present at the event were Daily Karatoa Roumari Correspondent Shawkat Ali Mondol, Shuvosangho members Rahim Rezwan, Mehedi Hasan, Kabidul Islam, and other local dignitaries.
Local residents praised the initiative, saying such humanitarian efforts play an important role in bringing positive change to society and called for similar support activities to continue in the future.
