The Carmichael College unit Bashundhara Shuvosangho held a discussion on the campus in Rangpur on Monday, highlighting the importance of co-curricular activities and soft skills in achieving career success.
An introduction to the newly formed committee was also held on the occasion.
Professor Md Abul Hossain Mondal, principal of the college, attended the event as the chief guest, while Professor Md Habibur Rahman, vice-principal, and Associate Professor of History Robiul Sadiq Nirob were present as special guests.
In his speech, Principal Abul Hossain said that the use of AI (artificial intelligence) is one of the most relevant soft skills at present.
He noted that AI tools are highly beneficial for students’ academic pursuits and encouraged them to develop such skills.
Extending his best wishes to all members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, he expressed hope that they would continue their good work.
Vice-Principal Habibur Rahman said the initiatives taken by Bashundhara Shuvosangho at Carmichael College are truly commendable. Their participation in various social and cultural activities of the college has impressed everyone.
He expressed hope that the organisation would continue to move forward.
Carmichael College unit Shuvosangho President Sajib Sarkar said that in today’s competitive world, not only institutional education but also active participation in co-curricular activities and the acquisition of soft skills help students stay ahead.
He urged students to engage in debates, cultural programmes, and voluntary activities.
General Secretary Mushfiqur Rahman said that co-curricular or extracurricular activities help students overcome hesitation. “A degree is a passport, but your soft skills and experience are the engine that will take you to your destination of success.”
He stressed the importance of developing personality and skills alongside academic studies.
Speakers at the discussion also said that communication skills, leadership qualities, time management, and teamwork experience play a crucial role in future career success.
The members of the newly formed committee were introduced, and guidelines for future activities of the organisation were outlined.
