Bashundhara Shuvosangho, in cooperation with “2 Takay Upohar,” celebrated the Bangla New Year’s Day at Chandrabindu Pathshala school premises, Uttara in the capital on Tuesday.
Chandrabindu Pathshala, founded and operated by Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s IUBAT unit, is an under-construction school campus for low-income communities, where 47 destitute children and 20 elderly ladies are currently receiving education for free.
The school is located at the Bijoynagar and Shantinagar Palli areas in Uttara. The new year celebration programme was organised by Shuvosangho’s unit at International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT).
The programme began with a drawing contest and also featured pillow passing game, face art rendition, a feast, and gift distribution.
Children took part in the events spontaneously, making the programme lively and worth watching. The organisers also joined the children in their pleasure moments, adding a humane touch.
In the drawing contest, the children painted themes of traditional and rural Bengal: rural lifestyle, pastoral scenery, birds, fruits, and village fairs.
The top three winners received special prizes towards the end of the event.
Reflecting on their efforts, Shuvosangho IUBAT unit General Secretary Nafiz Hasan said the programme was aimed at developing the creative and imaginative capabilities among children.
The unit’s Organisational Secretary Shamim Ahammed Fahim said events like the Bangla New Year’s Day programme can help flourish humanitarian and social values among children.
From 2 Takay Uphohar, Mominul Haque Rahad said that if his team can bring smiles on children’s faces even at low cost, it is worth cherishing as a success.
