Bashundhara Shuvosangho has extended support to the family of Raju Howlader, who has been struggling with mental health issues and was seriously injured in an accident.
On Tuesday afternoon, members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Sarankhola upazila unit handed over essential food items to the distressed family at Sonatola village under Southkhali union.
The food package included rice, lentils, oil, potatoes, onions, garlic, salt, chilli, and turmeric.
Sarankhola upazila unit Shuvosangho President and Kaler Kantho correspondent Mahidul Islam, General Secretary Md Russel Ahmed, joint general secretaries Mahfuzur Rahman Bappi and Israt Jahan; and Raju’s cousins Opi Howlader and Hasib Howlader were present.
Khadija Begum, wife of Raju, said her husband had gone missing about a year ago after suddenly losing his mental balance. Despite searching in places, the family was unable to find him.
On 15 March, they rescued him with a broken leg from in front of a shop in Satkhira Sadar upazila after receiving information from an acquaintance.
She added that his injured leg has now developed complications, but the family cannot afford treatment due to financial hardship.
Khadija said she is struggling to maintain the family with their three children, and without proper treatment, her husband may suffer permanent disability.
Since Bashundhara Shuvosangho stood by their family in this difficult time, she expressed gratitude to the organisation.
Southkhali union BNP President Md Shahidul Alam Liton also thanked Bashundhara Shuvosangho for their assistance.
Noting that Raju’s treatment requires a significant amount of money, which the family cannot manage alone, he urged affluent people to extend help to the family.
