Bashundhara Shuvosangho has distributed Eid gifts among underprivileged, poor and orphan students in Tarakanda upazila of Mymensingh, aiming to spread joy ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The programme was held on Wednesday with support from the Shuvosangho’s central committee and overall management by its Tarakanda upazila unit.
Disadvantaged students from different local educational institutions took part in the event.
A notable aspect of the initiative was that, alongside central support, members of the upazila unit contributed by saving from their tiffin allowances and pocket money to arrange the gifts, reflecting a strong sense of empathy and social responsibility.
The gift packages included vermicelli, sugar, flour, noodles and new clothes. The distribution brought early Eid cheer among the children, many of whom were visibly delighted.
Speaking at the event, Md Abu Hanif, imam of Tarakanda Upazila Complex Jame Mosque, said Bashundhara Shuvosangho has been distributing Eid gifts among underprivileged and orphan students every year, which is highly commendable.
Among others present were Tarakanda upazila unit president Abu Sayeem Akand, vice-president Setara Akter Setu, general secretary Ummel Kawsar Tushar, finance secretary Mushfiqur Rahman Nihal, health affairs secretary Rakibul Hasan and other members.
