Bashundhara Shuvosangho Library distributed new clothes as Eid special gifts among some underprivileged and distressed men and women on the library premises at Charkhirati area of Kapasia upazila in Gazipur on Tuesday.
Among those present were Md Mohsin, a lecturer in the Bangla Department at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Government College; Md Farid Mia, an assistant teacher at Kamargaon Government Primary School; Shakhawat Hossain, a member of Char Khirati Youth Club and a freelancer; expatriate Atikur Rahman, among others.
Buli Begum came to collect a lungi allocated for her husband, Md Azhar, who is bedridden due to illness. Expressing her gratitude, she said, “I cannot afford to buy anything for my sick husband. They have given him clothes from here. He will be very happy. I pray for everyone.”
Lehaz Uddin and his wife, both in their eighties, also came to receive their gifts. Burdened by age and illness, they are struggling to survive. Although they have children, they are also helpless and unable to support their parents. Lehaz Uddin said, “No matter how old or sick we are, we have to work to eat. Our sons can hardly support themselves. We couldn’t afford new clothes for Eid. Bashundhara has given both of us new clothes. We pray for them—may Allah reward them.”
