In an effort to spread the joy of Eid among underprivileged communities, the Savar upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a programme to distribute Eid gifts and iftar items among needy people.
The event was held on Saturday on the fifth floor of Savar City Center, where Eid food packages and iftar items were distributed among 25 underprivileged individuals.
Around 30 to 40 members of the organisation also took part in a collective iftar and prayer session.
The distributed food packages included essential items such as polao rice, vermicelli, sugar, milk, cooking oil, potatoes, onions and salt. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and happiness after receiving the assistance.
The programme was presided over by Md Habibur Rahman, president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Savar upazila unit and principal of Savar Shishu Academy School, while General Secretary Md Shafiqul Islam Pintu moderated the event.
Prominent businessman and repeatedly elected president of the Savar Bazar Road Business Welfare Association, Obaidur Rahman Abhi, attended the event as the chief guest. Businessmen Jaber Hossain and Motaleb Hossain were present as special guests.

Speaking at the event, chief guest Obaidur Rahman Abhi said humanitarian service is the greatest duty and that people from all economic classes together form society. He stressed that affluent members of society should come forward to reduce inequality and support the underprivileged.
Senior Vice-President Ariful Islam Jewel said Bashundhara Shubhoshongho is a non-political and non-profit social welfare organisation working for disadvantaged communities, adding that such initiatives help promote compassion and social responsibility.
General Secretary Shafiqul Islam Pintu said the organisation was pleased to distribute Eid food items and iftar among the needy and would continue working to bring positive changes in society through humanitarian activities.
President Habibur Rahman said sharing the joy of Eid with others brings true satisfaction and that the organisation plans to continue such initiatives in the future.
