On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the Rajbari district unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho distributed iftar items among rickshaw pullers and underprivileged people in the district town.
The distribution programme was held on Wednesday afternoon at the No. 1 Rail Gate area of Rajbari town, where members of the voluntary organization handed out iftar and biryani packets to fasting workers and disadvantaged people.
Among those present were Rajbari district unit President Ashraf Hossain Khan, who is also a professor at Rajbari Government College; outgoing general secretary Abdur Rashid Mondol, assistant professor at Government Rajendra College in Faridpur; adviser Iqbal Hossain, headmaster of Yasin High School; Kaler Kantho Rajbari Correspondent Jahangir Hossain; newly elected General Secretary Hafizur Rahman; Vice-Presidents Shamsul Alam, Selina Khatun and Shampa Pramanik; Joint General Secretary Gulshan Ara Mostafa Mita; Organising Secretary Korban Hossain; Women’s Affairs Secretary Sahina Akter; Planning and Welfare Secretary Habibullah; Publicity Secretary Nurunnahar Rupa; Sports Secretary Farid Ahmed; and Relief and Disaster Management Secretary Yakub Ali, among other members.
Speaking at the event, President Ashraf Hossain Khan said that Bashundhara Shuvosangho has long been carrying out various humanitarian activities in Rajbari. As part of these ongoing efforts, the organisation arranged the iftar distribution programme during Ramadan and plans to continue such initiatives in the future.
Rickshaw puller Lokman Hossain, one of the beneficiaries, expressed his gratitude after receiving the iftar package. He said that after a full day of hard work, he rarely manages a proper iftar meal and was happy to receive the food package, which would allow him to break his fast properly.
