The Debiganj upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho in northern Bangladesh has formally launched its activities through a series of charitable initiatives during the holy month of Ramadan.
Marking the beginning of its journey, members of the newly formed committee organised an iftar gathering, distributed iftar items among pedestrians, and offered special prayers seeking peace and prosperity for the country and its people.
The programme was held on Saturday at a private institution in Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh District. Young and enthusiastic members of the organisation took part in the event and pledged to engage in humanitarian and welfare-oriented activities in the coming days.
The event was presided over by the unit’s President, Nahid Siddiq Bappy. It was moderated by advisory council member and young school teacher Hasan Raihan.
Among those present were Adviser Sheikh Farid, General Secretary Lalchan Badsha, Publicity Secretary Rasinur Rasin and executive members Yasin Ali, Joy and Mosharraf, along with other members of the organisation.
Speaking at the programme, madrasa teacher and adviser Sheikh Farid said that although the population is increasing, the number of good and honest people in society is comparatively declining.
In such a situation, he said, it is encouraging that a group of young people has come forward with the intention of doing good work.
Another adviser and school teacher Hasan Raihan said Bashundhara Shuvosangho has long been working to support disadvantaged and marginalised people through various humanitarian activities.
He added that the organisation’s initiatives have earned widespread appreciation and expressed hope that the Debiganj unit will continue working for the welfare of poor and underprivileged people in the area.
Nahid Siddiq Bappy described the programme as a new experience for the members. He said that along with practicing restraint and self-purification during Ramadan, they shared iftar together and distributed iftar items among pedestrians and the needy.
“We have started our journey through good deeds. We want to continue this humanitarian work in the future,” he said, expressing gratitude to Bashundhara Shuvosangho and seeking support and cooperation from all to carry forward their initiatives.
