The Lalmai upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised an iftar and prayer gathering in honour of students memorising the Holy Quran during the holy month of Ramadan.
The programme was held on Saturday at the hallroom of Al Isra Madrasa located at Bagmara Uttar Bazar in Lalmai upazila of Cumilla district.
During the discussion before iftar, speakers highlighted the importance of maintaining the sanctity of Ramadan and urged madrasa teachers, guardians and students to ensure that Hifz learners receive nutritious food during iftar and sehri.
The prayer and munajat at the iftar gathering were conducted by the principal of Al Isra Madrasa, Maulana Masum Billah Muhajir.
The event was presided over by the President of the Lalmai upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, dentist Mofizul Islam Munna. Among those present were Daily Kaler Kantho Correspondent for Cumilla Sadar South and Lalmai upazila Zahirul Islam, Lalmai Press Club General Secretary Md Kamal Hossain, Head of the Hifz department at Al Isra Madrasa Hafez Shamim Ahmed, Hifz teacher Hafez Fahim Ahmed, Lalmai Reporters’ Unity General Secretary Pradip Majumdar and Editor of the online news portal Ajker Lalmai Nasir Uddin.
Also attending were Bashundhara Shuvosangho Lalmai upazila unit General Secretary Kazi Yakub Ali, Joint General Secretary Emdadul Haque Rifat, Organising Secretary Maruf Siraji, Event Secretary Yamin, rent-a-car businessman Kabir Hossain and expatriate Al Mamun Dulal, among others.
Speaking at the event, Hifz student Misbahul Islam said he is currently memorising the Holy Quran and regularly participates in programmes organised by Bashundhara Shuvosangho at the madrasa.
“One day I also want to become a member of Shuvosangho and work for good causes,” he said.
Principal Maulana Masum Billah Muhajir noted that although there are many social organisations, Bashundhara Shuvosangho stands out for its activities.
He said the organisation works extensively for underprivileged people and also organises programmes that encourage the practice of Islamic knowledge.
Md Kamal Hossain said Bashundhara Shuvosangho has always stood beside people in good causes and expressed appreciation for organising an iftar in honour of Quran Hifz students in Lalmai during Ramadan.
