Dhaka University (DU) campus on Wednesday witnessed a unique spiritual gathering during the holy month of Ramadan as the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Dhaka University chapter organised a mass iftar and prayer ceremony.
Guided by the spirit of restraint, compassion, and human welfare, the event went beyond being a simple iftar, emerging as a vibrant symbol of fraternity, empathy, and social solidarity.
The programme brought together both residential and non-residential students of Dhaka University, members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, and well-wishers. Sharing the iftar together fostered a sense of human connection among the participants.
A notable aspect of the event was the distribution of iftar packages among day labourers and hardworking individuals. Organisers personally handed out iftar to rickshaw pullers, labourers, and people from various professions, experiencing a profound sense of fulfilment.
The mass iftar and prayer gathering was attended by the Shuosangho DU unit president Abdul Momin, vice-president Azizur Hakim, Sharmin and Shirin Akter, joint secretary Hanif Ali, organisational secretary Pratiksha Rani, co-organisational secretary Samia Tasnim, and Rawshan Islam. Hall representatives Shakil Mia, Farhad Ahmed, and Ripon Mia were also present.
Before the iftar, prayers and supplications were offered seeking Allah’s blessings. Prayers were made for the nation’s peace, the welfare of students, and the wellbeing of humanity.
Addressing the event, Shuvosangho DU unit president Abdul Momin said, “The mass iftar is not merely a formal event; it builds bridges of harmony and compassion among people. Bashundhara Shuvosangho continues to work towards positive change in society through humanitarian initiatives, and this commitment will be maintained in the future.”
