Bashundhara Shuvosangho on Monday organised an iftar mahfil at Rajshahi College, carrying the message of fraternity and tolerance.
The programme took place on the college playground, with participation from the organisation’s leaders, representatives of different student bodies and general students.
The event was presided over by Miratuzzahan Mili, president of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Rajshahi College unit. Among others present were Organising Secretary Sarowar Alam Shafi; Vice-Presidents Raihanul Islam, Priti Chowdhury and Abdullah Al Maruf; Joint General Secretaries Labib Imon, Mosammat Tamim Tuli and Sahed Islam; Office Secretary Toufiqul Rahman; Women and Children Affairs Secretary Cynthia Naznin Misti; and member Ahmed Rudra.
Convener of Rajshahi College Chhatra Dal Khalid Bin Walid Abir and Joint Convener Rashikuzzaman Pritom attended the programme as special guests.
President of Rajshahi College Chhatra Shibir Mosharraf Hossain and Organising Secretary Meshkat Hossain also joined the iftar.
At a brief discussion before the iftar, speakers highlighted the significance of the holy month of Ramadan, stressing self-purification, empathy and social responsibility. They expressed their commitment to building a harmonious Bangladesh and said mutual respect and tolerance are essential to ensure coexistence and healthy political practice on campuses.
The discussion also focused on increasing humanitarian activities and awareness among students, promoting constructive student politics and strengthening the positive role of social organisations.
Speakers emphasised the leading role of students in nation-building and called for expanding social and voluntary activities in educational institutions.
