With the aim of fostering social harmony and humanitarian values of Ramadan, Bashundhara Shuvosangho donated iftar items among the destitute, and also hosted a mahfil for locals at a rural area in Gaibandha Sadar Upazila on Tuesday.
The mahfil was held on the banks of the historic Gordighi pond of the upazila.
Prior to the event, members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho visited the homes of underprivileged and elderly people, inquired about their well-being, and delivered iftar items to them.
The iftar distribution program was led by the president of Shuvosangho Gaibandha Sadar Upazila branch, Md Samiul Basir. Among other participants were Vice President Md Saikat Ahmed, General Secretary Md Ashidul Islam, Md Ziaur Rahman, and Office Secretary Md Sabuj.
President Md Samiul Basir said, “The month of Ramadan is a time of self-restraint, self-purification, and attaining taqwa. It teaches people to feel the suffering of others and strengthens the bonds of compassion, brotherhood, and harmony in society.”
General Secretary Md Ashidul Islam stated, “Through the iftar donation program and mahfil organized on the occasion of holy Ramadan, we hope to further strengthen the bonds of fraternity and goodwill among people from different walks of life. Bashundhara Shuvosangho will continue such welfare activities for the betterment of society in the future.”
A special prayer was also offered seeking continued progress, peace, prosperity, and well-being for the country and the nation. Prayers were also offered for the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
After the prayer session, all guests, well-wishers, and members of the organization shared iftar items together in a cordial atmosphere.
Local residents highly appreciated the noble initiative taken by Bashundhara Shuvosangho.
