Bashundhara Shuvosangho activists donated food items to two poor ladies at 9 No Marichpuran union, Nalitabari upazila, Sherpur, in a bid to help them live through the Ramadan and upcoming Eid with ease.
The recipients, Jayeda Begum and Jaynab, are both widows and childless. They have been living a difficult life for a long time due to acute financial constraints.
The donated items include rice, lentils, sugar, soybean oil, dates, puffed rice, chickpeas, onions, garlic and potatoes.
During the distribution, present were: Shuvosangho Nalitabari upazila unit’s General Secretary Naimur Hasan Rifat, Joint General Secretary Amit Sarkar, Office Secretary Rabayet Hossain, Sports Affairs Secretary Sanowar Alam and some locals.
While receiving the food assistance Zayeda Begum became overwhelmed with emotions. She said, “We are all alone. There is no one in the house to earn. Only Allah knows how we get through our days. Ramadan has arrived, and I was worried about how we would manage to keep our fasts. The groceries Shuvosangho members have given today will help us greatly. May Allah bless you.”
Wiping away her tears, Jaynab said, “No one usually checks on us. When Eid approaches, we feel even more distressed. Today you came and gave us food supplies—it feels like we are not completely alone. May Allah keep you well and fill your homes with blessings.”
