Marking the holy month of Ramadan, Bashundhara Shuvosangho Birganj upazila unit distributed iftar items among orphan students residing at the Lillah boarding of Birganj Alia Senior Fazil Madrasa.
The programme was held on the madrasa premises on Friday morning.
The organisers said, “Beyond observing restraint during Ramadan, practising humanity is one of the greatest acts of worship. The initiative was taken to share the joy of iftar with orphan children during the holy month.”
Madrasa teacher Hafez Md Yahya Mahmud said such arrangements for orphan students during Ramadan are truly commendable.
“They will be able to enjoy iftar with happiness. Initiatives like this send a positive message to society,” he added.
Md Ashraful Islam, a Nazera division student of the madrasa, said, “We are all fasting. Today we will be able to have a good iftar. We are grateful to those who arranged this.”
Among those present were adviser Sohel Ahmed of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Birganj upazila unit; district vice-president Md Farhad Hossain; upazila president Tanvir Ahmed; general secretary Md Shaharia Hasan; treasurer Dhonodeb Roy; joint general secretary Md Zahidul Islam; member Md Arif Islam; and other leaders.
