The Patgram upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised an awareness meeting on Monday to campaign against drug abuse and child marriage.
The new committee arranged the programme at the Sahebdanga Stadium premises in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat. Unit President Md Suman Islam chaired the meeting, while General Secretary Md Saiful Islam conducted it.
Advisers Aftabuzzaman Ratan, Md Masud Rana and Sahanaz Parveen joined the event as key discussants. Vice-presidents Tania Neha and Md Rashikuzzaman Ratan, along with other executive members, also attended the programme.
Speakers urged young people to take a leading role in eliminating drugs from society and preventing child marriage. They called on families, educational institutions and social organisations to work together to address the challenges.
The speakers welcomed the initiative of the new committee and encouraged it to continue regular awareness campaigns across the upazila.
At the end of the meeting, organisers announced plans to launch several programmes to strengthen public awareness and community engagement against drug abuse and child marriage.
