Bashundhara Shuvosangho members cleaned up the Shaheed Minar premises at Dinajpur Government College on Monday to pay respect to the Language Movement activists ahead of the Martyrs’ Day.
Shuvosangho members used brooms, brushes and water to clean up the Shaheed Minar grounds, renew its respectful position in the district.
College Principal Md Lutfor Rahman praised the initiative as one which can inculcate the sense of civic responsibility and patriotism among students.
Also present at the event were Professor Md Delwar Hossain, head of the Department of Botany and adviser to Bashundhara Shuvosangho, and Sheikh Mahtabul Haque, associate professor of the Department of English.
The programme was led by Md Yashir Arafat Rafi, joint general secretary of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho central committee. Others present included Arup Kumar Roy, president of the Dinajpur Government College unit, and vice-president Shahariar Kabir.
It is worth noting that, upholding the spirit of the Language Movement, Bashundhara Shuvosangho has been regularly carrying out various social and humanitarian programmes to spread patriotism, a sense of responsibility, and cultural awareness among the youth.
