Financial assistance from Bashundhara Shuvosangho has brought a ray of hope to Khodeja Begum, an elderly destitute woman who has been struggling to survive amid extreme poverty.
As part of its ongoing commitment to stand beside neglected and underprivileged people, Bashundhara Shuvosangho has extended support to Khodeja Begum, setting an example of compassion and social responsibility.
Members of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Kafrul Thana unit handed over the financial assistance to Khodeja Begum in the capital’s Kafrul, demonstrating the organisation’s humanitarian values.
According to local sources, Khodeja Begum has been living in inhuman conditions for a long time due to severe poverty. With no close relatives to support her in the final stage of her life and no stable source of income, she was forced to take up begging to survive. She spends her days moving from door to door, relying on whatever little help she receives. Frailty due to old age, illness and loneliness have become constant companions in her life.
After learning about her plight, members of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Kafrul Thana unit contacted her and assessed her overall condition. Deeply moved by her situation, they decided to stand by her and later handed over the assistance through a humanitarian initiative of the organisation.
Overwhelmed with emotion after receiving the support, Khodeja Begum said in a trembling voice, “I was living in extreme hardship and often had to go without food. Today Bashundhara Shuvosangho stood by me and helped me. This is a great blessing in my life.”
