Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised an awareness discussion titled “Let us build a peaceful and harmonious Bangladesh” at the historic Ananda Mohan College campus on Sunday, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and young people.
With the upcoming national parliamentary election in view, speakers urged citizens to uphold a violence-free environment and support a free, fair and neutral electoral process. They emphasised peace, tolerance and social harmony as essential foundations of democratic practice, noting that democracy grows stronger when citizens respect differing opinions and uphold human values.
Nafiul Hasan Mubin, president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Kalaroa unit, chaired the programme. In his address, he said Bangladesh belongs to everyone and differences of opinion should never turn into divisions of the heart. He encouraged respectful language, civil behaviour and dialogue over confrontation, stressing that young people can lead a new culture of harmony. He also called on students to view the election as a celebration of unity rather than a source of division.
Mubin highlighted the role of educational institutions as centres of civic awareness alongside academic learning. He urged students to act responsibly on social media, resist rumours and spread positive messages as part of their civic duty.
Other speakers echoed the call for young people to reject hatred and divisive politics and engage in constructive social activities. They underlined the importance of refined language, decent conduct and humane thinking in building a healthy society.
The event brought together leaders and members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Ananda Mohan College unit, including President Syed Nafiul Hasan Mubin; Vice Presidents Sadman Al Sakib, Jihad Hasan, Nahid Ferdous Khan and Mahmudul Hasan Akash; General Secretary Puja Chakraborty Labannya; Joint General Secretary Sanzida Afrin Jerin; Assistant Organising Secretaries Sanbir Ahmed Sohan and Arifunnahar Arifa; and several editors and executive members.
At the end of the discussion, participants pledged to work collectively to promote peace, harmony and human values in society.
