Bashundhara Shuvosangho provides financial assistance to Ratna Khatun, a destitute widow in Bhangura upazila of Pabna.
Bhangura Press Club General Secretary Moniruzzaman Faruk, along with Shuvosangho members, handed over Tk5,000 in cash as financial support to Ratna on Thursday.
Kaler Kantho Correspondent Masud Rana, Shuvosangho unit General Secretary Shakib Khan, Vice President Khalilur Rahman Bachchu, and Social Welfare Secretary Mehedi Hasan were also present. Moniruzzaman Faruk said that Bashundhara Shuvosangho is accomplishing various good works for society and its people.
"I hope that Shuvosangho members will continue to work for the welfare of the society and people in this way. Best wishes to them," he said.
Ratna Khatun is the wife of the deceased Lokman Hossain of the Khanmarich union in the upazila. In January 2019, Lokman, a daily wage earner, was killed in an accident while going to work in Narayanganj.
Ratna faces immense hardship raising her two young daughters. They spend their days without food, as there is no one to support them in their in-laws' house and their own father's house. She works as domestic help to earn bread for family members.
