The newly formed Bashundhara Shuvosangho Lakshmipur district committee has begun its journey with a tree plantation programme.
The programme was inaugurated by Kaler Kantho district correspondent and Bashundhara Shuvosangho Lakshmipur district committee President Mizanur Rahman along with general secretary Mohammad Nazrul Islam at the district Shilpakala Academy on Sunday.
Among others, Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila Vice Chairman Mohammad Sohel, District Child Affairs Officer Md. Abu Zafar, Kaler Kantho reporter Mansur Alam, and Bashundhara Shuvosangho Lakshmipur district committee members were present on the occasion.
Committee President Mizanur Rahman said that Bashundhara Shuvosangho is making a huge contribution to the welfare of the country and society.
He said that the organisation has always engaged in various social activities for the welfare of the people of the country.
"Tree plantation is a sacred work. Trees give us oxygen and save us from disasters. Everyone should plant at least one tree. Bashundhara Shuvosangho has started its journey in Lakshmipur with tree plantation. In the future, this organisation will conduct various social welfare activities including helping the poor and helpless people," he said.
The newly formed committee is expected to undertake various social welfare activities, including assisting the underprivileged.
