Bashundhara Shuvosangho conducted an awareness programme on Sunday at Lady Dehlovi Girls High School in Chandpur to promote mutual respect among youth and raise awareness against eve teasing.
The school's headmaster, Mohammad Ilias Mia, graced the event as chief guest, while Shuvosangho General Secretary Ujjal Hossain presided over it.
Addressing the occasion, Mohammad Ilias Mia described eve teasing as a social curse that must be eradicated through collective effort.
"If I am aware, eve teasing will significantly decrease in the society," he said. "That is why we all have to work together against this harmful practice," he said.
Student Tahmina Akhter recited verses from the Holy Quran, while Apurna Dutta recited from the Gita in the programme. Assistant teacher Mohammad Abu Sayem delivered the keynote speech.
Kaler Kantho correspondent Faruk Ahmed stated that eve teasing is an anti-social and anti-human act, with long-term consequences that have a deeply harmful impact on the society.
"It is essential to build strong social and legal resistance against eve teasing. Let us raise awareness and work together to create a healthier society," he said.
The event was also attended by Shuvosangho joint general secretaries Muhammad Jasim Uddin and Pranab Das Roni.
