Bashundhara Shuvosangho has brought Eid cheer to children from gypsy communities in Jhenaidah’s Pobhati area by distributing new clothes ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Around 38 destitute families from the community have been living in the area for years, struggling to afford even daily meals. For many children, new clothes for Eid had remained an unattainable dream.
Ismail Hossain, a resident of the community, expressed his gratitude, saying, “We have continued our ancestral profession, but we have no income. I was unsure how to get my two children anything for Eid. We are grateful to Bashundhara Shuvosangho.”
Shuvosangho district unit president Liakat Hossain, general secretary Keya Rani Pramanik, and several journalists and organisation members attended the event.
Liakat Hossain, a valiant freedom fighter, said Bashundhara Shuvosangho remains committed to humanitarian efforts, standing beside marginalised communities like the gypsies (locally known as Bede).
