Bashundhara Shuvosangho recently organized a friendly football match at the Santahar Modern Stadium in Adamdighi upazila, Bogura, aiming to keep the youth away from drugs and terrorism.
The match saw participation from Chhatiangram Football Academy and Damdama Udiyaman Jubo Shakti Club. The event was inaugurated by Zillur Rahman, president of the Santahar Town Press Club.
In this exciting one-hour game, Chhatiangram Football Academy emerged victorious, defeating Damdama Udiyaman Jubo Shakti Club with a 4-3 scoreline. Omar from the Damdama team scored the first goal, while Arafat from the Chhatiangram team was named the best player of the match.
The award distribution ceremony was presided over by Aminul Islam Sumon, president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Adamdighi upazila branch, with General Secretary Hasibul Islam Shakil moderating the event. Eng Nazrul Islam, chief adviser of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Adamdighi upazila branch and founder of Shokher Palli, was the chief guest. In his speech, he emphasised the importance of sports in steering the youth away from negative influences such as drugs and terrorism. He stated, "We have organised this football game to encourage the youth to focus on sports and help build a drug- and terrorism-free society." He also highlighted the regular social activities conducted by the organization in the upazila.
Notable attendees included Saiful Islam, principal of Santahar Technical and Business Management College; Shafiqul Islam, railway security force officer; Tariqul Islam Gentu, upazila correspondent of Daily Kaler Kantho; Jahangir Alam, senior vice president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho; Mini Sultana, joint general Secretary; Arafat Rahman Joni, cultural secretary; and Tanvir Hasan Samrat, health affairs secretary.
Lelin Hossain, one of the spectators, expressed his joy, saying, “I am very happy to watch the football match organised by Shuvosangho. Both teams played excellently, and I thank the organisers for this wonderful event.”
After the game, chief guest freedom fighter Nazrul Islam presented trophies, medals, and best player awards.
