Students of Manirampur Government Girls' High School in Jashore on Monday took an oath to take action against child marriage, aiming to put an end to it.
Headmaster MM Tashir Uddin was present at the event as the chief guest at the program, organized by Bashundhara Shuvosangho. Senior teachers, including Abdur Rouf, Shankar Kumar Mondal, Nazmus Shahadat, Jalal Uddin, Farid Uddin, Ikramul Islam, Dhiman Das, Sumon Ghosh, Aranya Bhanu Mallick, and Barnali Mallick, also spoke on the occasion.
Shuvosangho’s local unit President SM Hafizur Rahman chaired the event, while General Secretary Abdur Rahman conducted the session.
In his speech, MM Tashir Uddin emphasized that child marriage is a major obstacle to building a modern Bangladesh, noting that the country ranks 4th globally in terms of child marriage rates. He urged the youth to actively contribute to raising awareness and fighting against child marriage.
