A library, sponsored by Bashundhara Group, was inaugurated at the Patuakhali Government Mahila College on Sunday.
The conglomerate’s welfare arm, Bashundhara Shuvosangho, undertook the project and oversaw the inauguration ceremony.
At the event, Patuakhali Government Mahila College Principal Md Modasser Billah praised Bashundhara Group’s contributions in the country’s education sector. “No other big company in the country has made educational contributions like Bashundhara Group,” he told the audience.
The real estate-to-manufacturing conglomerate has founded schools, supported underprivileged children and extended scholarships to meritorious students, the college principal added.
He also pledged to donate 100 books for the new library. The library currently hosts over 700 books.
Also present at the inauguration ceremony were: the college’s history department chief Md Nazmul Karim, Islamic history and culture department chief Md Hasan Mia, history department’s Assistant Professor Md Faruk Hasan, English department lecturer Md Saidur Rahman Sagir, and Daily Sun Patuakhali Correspondent Abdul Qayuum as well Bashundhara Shuvosangho Patuakhali district unit Coordinator Saimun Rahman, General Secretary Abu Affan, college unit President Afroza Akter, Vice-President Sumaiya Nadi, General Secretary Diba Das, Organisational Secretary Tuli, Assistant Office Secretary Hira, Assistant Cultural Affairs Secretary Asia, and college unit committee members.
