The pro-BNP teachers of Dhaka University (DU) have demanded that authorities arrest and bring to justice Sociology Professor Dr Zeenat Huda for encouraging state-backed violence during the July-August uprising last year.
On Sunday, the protesting teachers, under the banner of “White Panel,” issued a statement in this regard addressing the interim government.
The statement was signed by White Panel Convener Professor Dr Morshed Hasan Khan and Joint Conveners Professor Dr Abdus Salam and Professor Dr Abul Kalam Sarkar.
The statement claimed Dr Zeenat Huda is continuing to make statements as the general secretary of Dhaka University Teachers’ Association (DUTA), despite her being rejected by the broader DU teachers’ community for her pro-fascist role last year.
The tenure of Dr Zeenat as DUTA general secretary, and the entire DUTA executive committee have also expired, as per the statement. But her continued remarks as DUTA general secretary, is an attempt to destabilise the university and include the current university administration in a controversy.
It also called for justice against Dr Zeenat for taking an unconditional stand for the dictator Sheikh Hasina last year, outlining her position against the anti-fascist movement, and encouraging the killings of protesters on Hasina’s orders.
