BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment in London, is showing signs of improvement, confirmed her personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday, he said that new tests are being conducted. He added that her mental well-being has improved as she is staying in a family environment. Comparing her condition on the day she arrived in London on the 8th and now, it is evident that she is on the path to recovery.
Dr. Zahid Hossain further mentioned that it is not yet the right time to disclose which tests are being conducted or which specific health issues are being focused on. However, renowned nephrologist Jennifer Close and eminent cardiologist Dr. Rotson have been attending to Begum Zia.
He also stated that a medical team of specialist doctors might convene on Monday to discuss Begum Zia's treatment.
Dr. Zahid clarified that there are no plans to transfer Begum Zia to another country for treatment at this moment.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the duration of her treatment might be extended. Preparations have been made accordingly.
On Saturday, around 4 pm London time, Tarique Rahman, accompanied by his wife, entered the hospital. Apart from two daughters-in-law and three granddaughters who are spending time with her, Tarique Rahman himself is taking good care of her.
