Mohibur Rahman Manik, former Awami League MP from the Sunamganj-5 constituency, was taken into custody on Tuesday night.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) apprehended him in Dhaka’s Bashundhara Residential Area, said Assistant Superintendent of Police Imran Khan of the RAB headquarters (media wing).
He is accused in a case filed over attacking students and people in Sunamganj Sadar upazila during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
The case number is 05/258, filed with Sunamganj Sadar police station on 4 August, the eve of the previous regime's fall.
A process was underway to take him to the Detective Branch office in the capital.
