The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) says that the overall inflation has decreased by 1.17 percent in August compared to the previous month, reports UNB.
According to BBS data, the overall inflation was 11.66 percent in July. From there it reduced to 10.49 percent in August. Furthermore, food inflation also reduced in one month. In July the food inflation was 14.10 percent, While in August it came down to 11.36 percent.
However, non-food sector inflation spiked up slightly. In July, the Inflation was 9.68 percent in this sector. In August, it increased slightly to 9.74 percent.
In July, the country experienced the highest inflation in the last 13 years. During the Quota Reform movement, the overall inflation rose to 11.66 percent. Overall inflation was 9.72 percent last June.
On the other hand, in July, food inflation was also the highest in the last 13 years. It rose up to 14 percent. Earlier, the last highest food inflation was seen in April 2011 at 14.36 percent.
