The results for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations will be announced on October 15, with a nationwide release scheduled for around 11 am, reports The Daily Sun.
Due to the cancellation of six subjects amid the quota reform movement, results will be calculated by using a “subject mapping” system. This will involve combining 25% of the marks from students' JSC(Junior School Certificate) exams and 75% from their SSC(Secondary School Certificate) exams with the scores from the six canceled subjects, following approval from the education ministry.
Approximately 1.45 million candidates are waiting for their results, as there was uncertainty surrounding the evaluation process this year due to disruptions caused by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. The unrest led to the indefinite closure of educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities, beginning on July 16.
The HSC examinations, initially scheduled for July 18, were postponed multiple times, with a tentative restart set for August 4. However, due to ongoing protests, these exams were further delayed. Following significant turmoil, which included damage to examination centers and the burning of question papers, the interim government revised the exam schedule to begin on September 11. Unfortunately, many students chose to participate in the anti-government protests instead of taking the exams.
In response, the interim government postponed the examinations by two weeks and announced that they would proceed with half the original questions. On August 20, over 500 examinees protested at the Bangladesh Secretariat, demanding the cancellation of the remaining exams. The government ultimately acquiesced to their demands, deciding not to hold the rest of the examinations.
