A Dhaka court on Monday issued a foreign travel ban on Padma Bank's former chairman Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat.
Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Ash Shams Zaglul Hossain passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) deputy director Masudur Rahman seeking the travel ban.
Public Prosecutor Mahmud Hossain stood for the ACC.
According to the plea, ACC said that Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat amassed a huge amount of illegal wealth through bribes, corruption, forgery, misuse of power, and laundered money abroad. He is circulating media releases from unknown places defending himself. In this situation, Nafeez Sarafat should be barred from travelling abroad, it added.
