In September, 392 road accidents occurred across the country, resulting in 426 deaths and 813 injuries. Among these, 179 people lost their lives in 164 motorcycle accidents, which made up 42% of the total fatalities, reports Daily Sun.
The Road Safety Foundation released this information in a press statement on Monday, signed by its Executive Director, Saidur Rahman.
According to the Road Safety Foundation report, Dhaka Division had the highest number of accidents, with 128 deaths in 124 incidents. In contrast, Barisal Division recorded the fewest, with 16 deaths in 15 accidents.
Chattogram district was the most affected, with 28 deaths in 31 accidents. Shariatpur, Patuakhali, Sunamganj, and Jamalpur had no reported fatalities.
In the capital city of Dhaka, 19 people lost their lives and 13 others were injured in 26 road accidents.
