Abdul Kalam Azad, former principal secretary of the deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, was arrested in Dhaka on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Detective Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police apprehended him at Kalabagan in the evening, DMP Additional Commissioner (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallick confirmed the media.
Abul Kalam was arrested based on specific allegations, the official said, adding that he was taken to the DB office.
“We will produce him before a Dhaka court and seek remand for interrogation,” he added.
On February 16, 2015, Abul Kalam Azad had been appointed Principal Secretary to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
