In a bid to safeguard the environment and mitigate the risk of lightning strikes, Bashundhara Shuvosangho has initiated a palm seed sowing programme in Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat.
As part of the initiative, the Khetlal unit of Shuvosangho planted hundreds of palm seeds at Pathanpara High School grounds on Saturday.
The event was attended by Shuvosangho’s Khetlal unit president M Rasel Ahmed, members -- Anwar Hossain, Nahid Hossain, Shamim Hossain, Shahin, and Rana, among others.
Notably, over the past four years, Bashundhara Shuvosangho has successfully planted around 40,000 palm seedlings in Khetlal, Kalai and Joypurhat sadar upazila, all of which are now thriving.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho, an environmental and voluntary organisation, has been actively conducting tree plantation programmes throughout the year to promote greenery across the country, banglanews24.com reports.
