The influential US magazine Time has published their list of the top '100 Rising Stars 2024'. Nahid Islam, the student leader and information advisor of the interim government, has taken a place in it.
This list was published on Wednesday. It has the name of Nahid Islam in the emerging leader category.
About Nahid Islam, Time magazine said at the age of 26, he helped remove one of the most powerful people in the world from power. Nahid Islam, who studied sociology, was one of the student leaders who started the nationwide movement against Sheikh Hasina.
It is also said about him that he became more known to the general public after being tortured by the intelligence agencies. A few days later, he called for Sheikh Hasina's resignation. After that, Hasina fled from country on August 5 in the face of massive protests by the common people.
In addition, Md Nahid Islam's presence in the advisory council of the interim government led by Dr Yunus was also mentioned in Time magazine. They said that the aim of the interim government is to bring back the democratic system in Bangladesh, which has been disrupted in the last 15 years during the regime of Sheikh Hasina.
Nahid Islam told Time magazine, “We need to understand the pulse of the new generation. The bickering between political parties must stop and we must move forward."
