A Dhaka court on Thursday showed ex-law minister Anisul Huq arrested in a case filed over the murder of protester Al Amin Hossain in the Badda area of the capital on 5 August.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saiful Islam passed the order as police produced Anisul before the court and pleaded to show him arrested in the case filed with Badda police station.
The court later sent Anisul back to jail.
Earlier, he was arrested from the city's Sadarghat area as he was trying to flee the capital through the waterways on 13 August. Then, he was placed on a 10-day remand the next day in a case lodged over the murder of Shahjahan Ali in the capital's New Market area.
According to the case documents, Al Amin joined the student people procession in the Badda area on August 5. As the procession came near the Badda police station, Awami League goons started firing indiscriminately, killing Al Amin on the spot.
