The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has halted vessel operations in coastal regions due to adverse weather conditions.
Local cautionary signal number 3 has been issued at all seaports.
BIWTA Public Relations Officer Ehteshamul Parvez announced the suspension on Thursday.
All vessels operating on routes from Dhaka to Hatia, Betua, Khepupara, Charmontaj, Rangabali, and Monpura have been ordered to halt operations until further notice, he added.
The decision was taken because of rough river conditions in the coastal areas, which present significant dangers for vessel navigation.
