The price of a 12kg Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder has been increased by Tk 34 for October, bringing the total cost to Tk 1,456, reports Daily Sun.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the new price, which will take effect from 6 pm on Wednesday.
Earlier, on 2 September, the BERC raised the price of a 12kg LPG cylinder by Tk 44 to Tk 1,421. In August and July, the price was increased by Tk 11 and Tk 3, respectively.
At the same time, the BERC also raised the price of auto gas, with each liter now set to be sold at Tk 66.84.
It may be pointed out that the prices of LPG and auto gas were increased five times and reduced seven times in 2023.
Meanwhile, the government approved proposal for procuring some two cargos of LNG to meet the country’s growing demand.
The approval came at the 6th meeting of the Adviser's Council Committee on Government Procurement held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at the Secretariat with Finance and Commerce Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
