BNP leaders in Khulna asked the party men to be vigilant during Durga Puja to ensure peaceful celebration of the Hindu community.
They said defeated regime ousted in the July-August anti-discrimination movement is trying to undermine the new government in Bangladesh by carrying out plots and spreading rumours.
The BNP leaders made the remarks while exchanging views with the leaders of Khulna district unit Puja Udjapon Parishad at a hotel in Khulna Monday night, reports BSS.
They said as per the directive of BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, the party leaders and activists will guard the puja mandaps in different areas.
BNP's Information Affair Secretary Azizul Bari Helal addressed the meeting as the chief guest while its Student Affairs Secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul and Assistant Secretary of National Executive Committee Babu Joyonta Kumar Kundu addressed as main speaker and special speaker respectively.
City Unit BNP organized the meeting with its Convener S M Shafiqul Alam Mona in the chair as Member Secretary Md Shafiqul Alam Tuhin conducted it.
Among others, President and General Secretary of District Unit Puja Udjapon Committee Krisna Pada Das and Biman Saha, also spoke.
