Commissioned officers of the Air Force and the Navy can also exercise magistracy power like Army officers, according to an updated notification issued by the public administration ministry.
The powers would be effective for sixty days from September 17 across the country.
The first notification in this regard, signed on September 24 by the ministry’s senior assistant secretary, gave only Army officers the status of executive magistrates for 60 days.
The updated notification was signed on September 29 extending the power to all the three military forces of the country.
As per the updated notification, all officers of the armed forces with ranks equivalent to an army captain and above can perform as executive magistrates across the country for the specified period, Daily Sun reports.
