Three people including a man and his son were killed as a bus rammed a truck in the western side of Bangabandhu Bridge in Sirajganj district on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Rais Uddin, 62, son of Safar Uddin, Alif Hasan, 27, son of Rais Uddin and Chandra Shekhar, 33, son of Sudhangshu Shekhar.
10 other were also injured in the accident, reports UNB.
Abdul Kader Jilani, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station, said the accident occurred around 5:30 am near No 13 pillar of the bridge when the Dhaka-bound “Dhaka Express’ Paribahan bus from Sirajganj crashed into a truck from behind, leaving three dead on the spot and ten others injured.
The injured were taken to Sirajganj General Hospital.
The front portion of the bus got twisted during the accident.
Vehicular movement over the bridge remained suspended for sometime following the accident.
