A Dhaka court on Monday has sent hundred over Ansar member to jail in connection with cases filed for staging a demonstration in front of the Bangladesh Secretariat illegally and hindering police from their duties on Sunday night, reports Daily Sun.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court passed the order when 850 Ansar members were produced before the court in connection with the cases filed with Shahbagh, Ramna and Paltan police stations on Monday.
Three separate cases have been filed against over 7,322 Ansar members in Dhaka as they went on a demonstration in front of the main gate of Bangladesh Secretariat to press home their demand for nationalisation of their jobs.
Sub Inspector of Police Sazzad Hossain filed the case with Paltan Police Station against 4,114 Ansar members, mentioning 114 names of the total accused on Monday.
Of the accused, a total of 95 Ansar members were arrested in this connection as of 3:45 pm on Monday.
Besides, a case was lodged against 3,208 Ansar members with Shahbagh Police Station on the same allegation.
Inspector Shamim Meer Malat filed the case mentioning 208 names of the accused this afternoon.
Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested 95 Ansar members in this connection.
Although the government assured the paramilitary auxiliary force to fulfill their demands, Ansar members went on a demonstration on Sunday night by blocking the main gate of the Bangladesh Secretariat, locking clashes between students and people.
At least 50 people sustained injuries during the sporadic clashes.
