The government has promoted 131 joint secretaries to the rank of additional secretary, rectifying a period of delayed advancement for these officials during the tenure of the Awami League government, reports Daily Sun.
The promotions, effective from the dates these officials first became eligible, will also include retroactive financial benefits.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued the promotion order on Sunday.
According to the order, the promotions will be backdated to when each official was first surpassed by a junior colleague, ensuring that they receive all due financial entitlements from that point onward.
Officials who have had their workplace or department changed since their initial promotion eligibility must submit their joining report with the updated office address.
Besides, the order notes that if adverse or conflicting information about any promoted official emerges, the promotion may be revised or cancelled.
The order also directs any promoted official currently on lien or study leave to notify the authorities rather than report for duty.
