The Dhaka University (DU) Teachers Association is continuing all-out strike and held sit-in program demanding the withdrawal of the guarantee scheme related to the universal pension scheme. The university teachers took pauses from all kinds of academic activities as part of the strike on Monday morning.
At 12 noon on Monday, the teachers held a sit-in program at the front gate of Arts Faculty building of DU. The university teachers, officers, and other staff have been continuing the demonstration since July 1, demanding the cancellation of the circular that included university teachers and staff in the universal pension scheme's "Prottay" package, among other issues.
The general secretary of the teacher's association Zeenat Huda said, “We have been holding a sit-in program and strike for 3-point demands for a long time. But we do not see any situation to meet our demands. We have said before and we are still saying that we will not back down until our demands are met. We will return to the classroom with victory.”
