The fire that broke out at a warehouse in Nawabpur of old part of Dhaka on Thursday night was fully doused, reports UNB.
According to the authorities, fourteen firefighting units of the fire service responded to the fire and extinguished the fire at 1:58 am on Friday, said Shahjahan Sikder, deputy assistant director (media) of Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters.
The fire broke out at Nawabpur Mohammadia Market-185. An estimated 20 shops and warehouses were damaged. No casualties were reported, he said.
“The blaze began around 10:10pm on Thursday. Locals alerted the fire department after thick smoke was coming out from Ayub Bhaban beside Nawabpur Tower in Suritola," said Shahjahan.
The reason for the fire and the extent of the damage could not be confirmed immediately, he added.
