Customs officials arrested a man with 3 gold bars weighing 30 bhories from Bhomra border in Satkhira Sadar upazila on Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Nafiz Sheikh, 32, of Kopibagh Panchashahar area of Munshiganj.
According to the Bhomra Customs authorities, based on secret, the officers of Customs Intelligence Department of Jashore Customs arrested passenger Nafiz Shaikh from in front of the Bhomra Customs office.
Later, 3 pieces of gold bars weighing 30 bhories were recovered searching his body.
He was trying to go to India through Bhomra immigration to smuggle the gold, they said.
The estimated market value of recovered gold is Tk 29.22 lakh.
