Rear Admiral Golam Sadeq of the Bangladesh Navy has been made the new chairman of the Mongla Port Authority.
Ministry of Public Administration issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday.
In the same circular, Mongla Port Authority incumbent chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail has been appointed the new chairman of the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA).
Besides, CPA's current chairman Rear Admiral M Shahjahan has been sent back to the Navy.
Rear Admiral Golam Sadeq performed his duty as the chairman of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) till March this year.
Golam Sadeq is a sixth-batch ex-cadet of Rangpur Cadet College. He was commissioned on July 1, 1989, in Bangladesh Navy.
He received naval training from the Royal Malaysian Navy. Sadeq commanded various naval fleets and camps like missile boats, petrol craft, mine sweepers, offshore patrol vessels and frigates.
He led three training camps namely Shaheed Moazzam, Isha Khan and Bangladesh Naval Academy. Besides, he discharged his duties as Staff Officer of the Naval Chief’s Flag Lieutenant, Deputy Director of the Planning Department in the Naval Head Quarters, Chief Staff Officer of Chattogram Commander Naval Zone and Staff Officer of Operations of Commander BN Fleet.
He annexed his academic excellence through higher degrees from the Royal Navy of the UK, Mirpur Staff College, Naval War College of the USA and National Defense College of Bangladesh.
